Don’t worry, this won’t be a fashion post.
So my wife was doing this 333 capsule wardrobe. It involves locking away every bit of your clothing with the exception of 33 pieces that comprise your entire wardrobe for the next 90 days.
I figured that sounded fun, and considering I already ascribe to a fairly minimal lifestyle, I thought I’d give it a try.
Truth be told, it was a little trickier than I thought.
I started with about ~50 pieces, and after some hard decisions, I got it to the prescribed count.
This did involve me locking away a few of my favorite t-shirts!
Here’s the list:
- 4 Button-Down Shirts
- 5 T-shirts
- 8 Hoodies, Sweatshirts, Sweaters Cardigans
- 3 pairs of jeans
- 3 pairs of non-jean pants (corduroys, khakis, chinos)
- 4 outwear things (puffy jacket, puffy vest, rain jacket, work jacket (yeah, I know))
- 3 Accessories (Belt, Hat, Scarf)
- 3 shoes (boots, chukkas, sneaks)
I got to say, even on day one, I was delighted to see such an empty closet. I also feel like I’m already making fewer decisions in the morning, which is fantastic.
Full transparency, life has gotten complicated recently. A lot of it has to do with my work situation. And on top of that, I’m kind of a person who does a lot.
Because of that, I’ve really been looking for any way to simplify. Simplify routines, simplify choices, just simplify anything and everything I can.
As silly as this capsule wardrobe thing felt, it did that.
Give it a try!
